We recall that the Senate and the House of Representatives passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill with slight difference. What we have done is to give very clear and sufficient definition to each mode of primaries. The Direct Primaries is well defined and how it should be conducted ditto Indirect Primaries. \u201cAnd for the Consensus, the two chambers have produced in this Bill, very clear definition of how a Consensus candidate would emerge. A Bill for an Act to Establish the legal and institutional framework to protect witnesses and related persons, with responsibilities for carrying out all administrative duties relating to witnesses in respect to disclosures made for public interest and for other related matters therewith, 2022 (SB. 641) by Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari in his lead debate, said the passage of the Bill will fulfil some of the country\u2019s international commitments to various conventions and protocols. He added that Section 1 of the Bill establishes a legal and institutional framework to protect witness and related persons with responsibilities for carrying out all administrative duties relating to witnesses. The Bill in Section 2 also specifies laws in which the Bill can apply, while Part II sets standards for establishing and managing the witness protection program.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Senator Chukwuka Utazi seconded. In his contribution, he called for the support of the Bill and urged the Executive to ascent to Bills passed by the National Assembly and if there are issues, it should come for amendment.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Senator Smart Adeyemi also rose to support the Bill, said \u201cit is a Bill that requires all of us towards curtailing corruption.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cI rise to lend my support to this very important Bill&#8230;This bill touches on money laundering, narcotics, which is a main problem to Nigeria today and everybody should support it\u2026This law will strengthen war against drug trafficking\u2026I commend the mover of this Bill and I ask all my colleagues to support it.\u201d &#8211; Senator Adamu Aliero.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Bill was read the Second Time and referred to the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes to report back within four weeks.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">2. A Bill for an Act to establish the Federal Polytechnic Shagamu to provide full-time courses in technology, applied science, management and other fields of studies and to make provisions for the General Administration and for other related matters, 2022 (SB. 779) by Senator Olalekan Mustapha.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Senator Olalekan Mustapha in his lead debate said the establishment of the polytechnic will balance the geo political spread of higher institutions in the state. He added that the Enactment of the Bill will help in transforming the educational fortunes in Nigeria.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Senator Tolu Odebiyi, in supporting the Bill, commended the mover of the Bill. \u201cTo me, any Bill that seeks to further education is a Bill that I will always support and this is particularly even apt because it focuses on science, technology and management.
